Breastfed babies have the most explosive poops!! I can not believe my daughter sometimes…it literally got all over the wall one day. It’s like beat the clock or beat the poop bomb every time I change her!! But how do you know if your baby has diarrhea – it’s so messy to begin with? *If you baby is having an abnormal schedule and more frequent bowel movement during the course of the day *The normal yellowish stools are a greening color *If you babies stools are more watery than usual *If it has a stranger than normal odor *If the stools contain mucus or blood *If they are not gaining or even loosing weight So now – what to do?.... *Be sure to use some sort or diaper ointment or cream when you change your baby so they won’t get diaper rash. *Breastfeeding will actually help rid your babies diarrhea so don’t stop breastfeeding – your baby maybe a bit dehydrated because of the diarrhea. *Make sure you wash your hands after changing your baby because diarrhea is contagious *Give your baby a warm bath *Boil some rice and wash your babies bottom with the water that you just boiled the rice in *You may want to see if it is something in your diet that maybe causing your baby’s diarrhea *If you are giving your baby foods be sure to feed him/hercarrots, applesauce, and rice cereal *If you suspect they had a bowel movement change the diaper right away. *Here’s one I’ve heard of – dab a drop of white vinegar to the bottom of your baby’s feet – worth a try Personally, I call my doctor if I think there is anything abnormal going on and I would recommend the same to other moms.
