Personally, I think the child will give up the pacifier on his/her own when they are ready…however…the longer they have it then the more dependant they will become on it. Also if they always have that pacifier in their mouth they will lose good practice time in babbling and baby talk. And don’t forget that their teeth are just starting to come in and sucking on a pacifier will affect their teeth – especially their upper teeth to tip outward. Try to wean your baby during the day rather than the night and you maywant to replace it with a favorite toy or another item the child likes.
