Breast milk is still the number one choice when it comes to feeding your baby. And it is the best way for your baby to get the most nutrition. They say that you should try to breastfeed for as long as you can. I was lucky enough to nurse my kids all for 18 months each. I would just pump during my lunch and bathroom breaks at work for the next days supply. However there are people that just do not want to breast feed. There are some that just simply can not even with a lactation consultant and others like my friend who just didn’t want to. And with companies out there stating that their products have the same benefits as breast milk then they purchase all of these expensive formulas.
Many times it is all a big hype. The brand-name and very expensive formulas from the big pharmaceutical companys will not be any more like breast milk than the store brand formula. All formulas are regulated by the FDA and are nutritionally equivalent. So, once again people are just trying to get your money anyway they can. And big surprise….it is the big pharmaceutical companies!
WIC is wanting more mothers to breastfeed and now their program may require you to purchase your own formula when previously they had it mostly paid for. The thing is…why would you want to pay for something when you have it right there and it is SO much better for your baby!
