Breastmilk Treats Cancer
Posted on 02.22.08 by The Mommy Blogger @

I found this article extremely interesting…I always knew that breastmilk was so good for a child and had so many great medicinal qualities but now the medical world is really looking into it. I have helped my babies blocked tear ducts, cradle cap and even pink eye with breastmilk. There is a lot to be said for natural thinks like this. And now it has been said to treat cancer patients successfully. That is amazing!

Taking a breath isn’t taken for granted in the Bauer house.

“I was dying. I was literally dying, and I knew it,” said Dr. Donn Bauer.

Bauer had a cancerous tumor in his right vocal chord, severe enough to cut off his airway. Surgeons removed it, leaving him with a hole in his neck to talk and breathe.

“So I was bent on getting better. No matter what,” he said, wiping his eyes.

But he didn’t get better.

Bauer lost 35 pounds in one week, and his diabetes made recovery almost impossible. Then he discovered a new remedy: a mother’s breast milk.

“It’s just a boost of energy, and it’s not like drinking an energy drink or a couple cups of quick coffee, but a slow process of feeling good,” he said.

“It’s gold. It is incredible liquid,” said Amy Vickers with the Mother’s Milk Bank of Fort Worth……

Drinking While Breastfeeding
Posted on 01.22.08 by The Mommy Blogger @

Many women like myself do not touch any sort of alcoholic beverage for the full 9 months of pregnancy. But what if you are breastfeeding? I have read that it is recommended that you don’t. However and occational drink or two a week in not harmful but do not breastfeed the baby for a full 2 to 3 hours after you finish the drink. By then it will have metabolized and be of no harm in your milk supply. Pumping after you drink is not going to help because it is in your system – you just have to wait it out. If you do plan to have a drink with dinner you may want to bottle some milk before hand so that you will not have to worry about it.

Posted on 04.13.07 by The Mommy Blogger @

Here is a study that I came across…Women that breastfeed are less likely to get rheumatoid arthritis. It they breastfed for at total of between 12 and 23 months during their lifetime have a 30 percent risk reduction and those who breastfed for 24 or more months had a 50 percent reduction. Yet another reason to breastfeed!!

Nursing Tip
Posted on 03.19.07 by The Mommy Blogger @

When you first begin to nurse you will probably have sore nipples from the nursing. After you are done during have a cup of tea and after you have made the tea…put the tea bag in the ice tray in the freezer just for around 40 seconds to a minute. Then put the wet bag on your sore nipple and cover it with a nursing pad under your bra. Leave in on for around 5 minutes while you take a few precious minutes to enjoy that cup of tea and you will find that you will not be sore and it will actually help heal your nipples.
