Remember when you were in school and at the end of the year you cleaned your desks with that shaving cream. Well you can use foaming shaving cream to help remember other things like red-wine spills on your carpets. And it really works…just a little shaving cream and then you blot it up with a cloth – I was really suprised that it actually worked. Filed under: Super Household Tips Comments: None |

I hate to do the laundry but I have to otherwise there would be no clean clothes to wear! Every time that you wash and dry your clothing your electric bill is affected. So, here is a great way to cut down your drying time considerable. Actually it is quite simple…you just have to put a tennis ball in your dryer with your clothing. It will also make the clothes nice and fluffy…this is a great for when you are drying towels. I love this one and it works great! Filed under: Super Household Tips Comments: None |

I don’t know about you but I notice how much shoes smell when the weather starts to get warmer outside. Especially my husbands shoes…they really stink. We have gotten those foot odor balls to leave in and other things to put int he shoes but they really do not work and the shoes really stink up the entire breezeway where we keep all of your shoes. And on a hot and humid day it is really gross. You can always try putting a fabric softener sheet in the shoe overnight. This has worked good before. But if the shoe is still stinking then try putting it in a plastic bag and freeze the shoes for a day or two. This should kill the odor completely. Filed under: Super Household Tips Comments: None |

To eliminate some of that dust you get on your ceiling fans just clean them with polish. Now is the time to do that huge spring cleaning. So clean them down and then put a layer of good furniture polish on it…one with beeswax is best. It will keep the dust down to a minimum at least. Use a fabric softener to clean off your DV and other elctronics that gather so much dust. Sometimes I swear 10 seconds after I dust off the tv and computer screen there is a new fresh layer of dust…where does it all come from! Filed under: Super Household Tips Comments: None |

Sometimes I get in my car and it just stinks and I don’t know why because we don’t eat in the car but just isn’t smelling pretty these days. So if you do not have that air freshener handy…no problem – just go and get a dryer sheet and put it in the car…it really does the trick. It will get the stink of the car almost immediately and now a days you can get many kinds of dryer sheets with many different scents. It solved my problem! I have found that the best time to clean the bathroom is after you take that hot shower. The steam from the shower will actually help to losen the dirt and it will just clean so much easier. This is an especially good tip during those colder months of the year. I find that the cleaning just goes a lot quicker because I do not have to scrub as hard and it just wipes up so much easier. Here is a great idea I was reading up on this week. I am always doing all the chores in the house and my daughter is getting older so I give her things to pick up. Nothing much but she has to clean up the messes that she makes now. That is not much to ask. But there will be a time where I will have children that are all of age to actually have a chore once a week whether it is the dishes or vacuuming. Why not put all the chores in a hat along with something that says “no chores for you!” – then they can pick their chores randomly every week and may even get that lucky paper!! Here is a great tip that I actually got from my Grandmother. My grandfather would always have greasy hands after working all day. There are those grease soaps are course and get that grease off your hands but here is what he did and it works for cooking grease too and really makes your hands soft. Just wash your hands with a spoonful of olive oil and a spoonful of sugar. Really rub your hands together and between your fingers and then wash it off with plain old soap and water. That’s it! Do not make the same mistake that I have made in the past. I stored all of my baby toys in the attic because of course you do not want to them around. However, when you store them and put them away for months and years at a time…TAKE OUT THE BATTERIES!! I went to get my toys out of the basement and the attic and they looked ok but they didn’t work because the batteries that were in there completely corroded the coils where the batteries go. So they don’t work – real bummer because they still look so nice and new even! Everything needs batteries today… I swear that the toy companies are partnered with the battery companies! Personally, I do not have find silver utensils but my grandmother does and she would sparkle them up for ever special occasion. She loves her silverware because it is real silver and it is 50 yeas old so it is the really nice kink. Not like the cheap stuff that they try to sell you today. If you don’t shine your silver regularly then it may tarnish. No problem….just dunk it in ketchup for 3 minutes and us e an old toothbrush to brush it up then just rinse it clean – this also great for jewelry too. Here is a cool little household tip for you all. I do not know about you but sometimes I forget to get that furniture polish at the store…so what do you do in a pinch…get some stale/flat beer. Put a little on a soft and clean rag and polish your wood then dry it off with a clean and dry cloth. It should make your furniture sparkle. Have yet to try this one…but I will next time I run out of polish Filed under: Super Household Tips Comments: None |

My husband uses a thermos for his soup for lunch during the day…which is fine but he never cleans it properly and it is gross. And I can not get my hand all the way in anymore because my hands are even fat! Here is a great tip to help clean your thermos. Just get 1/2 cup vinegar with 1/2 cup water then put some dry and uncooked rice in the thermos and just shake vigorously for around 3 minutes…this should help a lot Filed under: Super Household Tips Comments: None |

Do you have that really nice sweater that you just really love but you never wear because it has those little fuzzy balls and pillers all of it. No problem. Just get a little piece of sandpaper and lightly rub the sweater in the same direction. This really works…however make sure you use your common sence and do not do this if you have very delicate material. but for my sweaters it seems to work great! Do you have a cat? My grandmother always had a cat and I like cats as long as they are not in my own home becuaes I just can not stand the cat hair. Here is a great way to get rid of the cat hair from your upholster. Just get your rubber gloves on and wet them and rub it against the fabric. It will stick to the gloves. Just make sure that you fabric is ok if you have a little water on it. Filed under: Super Household Tips Comments: None |
